“Just the facts Ma’am, just the facts!”

This post is about the use of my adopted name verses my bio name.

The records that I have collected are factual; my adopted name is Walter John Trebilcock, when I was born in 1963 my given names were Walter William. The surname, maiden name and family that are on file is Astley, White and Holmes.

The Trebilcock name which I’m proud of can be a hard name to pronounce correctly because of the last four letters. My youngest sister changed her last name to her mothers maiden name when she started her business so it would be easier for her clients to say. Even my daughters have dropped the CK from the name so that they wouldn’t get teased in junior and high school. For me, being a teacher the students would call me Mr. T which again was much easier to say.

In 2013-2014 I ask my Bio brother if I could take on the family name Holmes and with his blessing he said yes. My actual real birth name would read as Walter William Astley White-Holmes which is way to long. So after writing my book I took sometime to think about what name I was going to use and I decided to reclaim my birth name as Walter William Holmes. In the next year I will be legally changing my name. Inside the cover of the book will have my adopted name for legal reasons and sometimes authors or actors will use a pseudonym or synonyms for their name.

I know all this can be confusing but I do hope that you can understand why I’m using my birth name. I wrote this book as part of my healing process but also in hopes of helping others to be released from their own pain of shame, guilt, condemnation, and rejection.

I deeply believe we are all here to shine our light onto others so that we may learn, develop, heal and grow through shared life experiences. Have a wonderful blessed day and God bless!
