I’ve known Walter for a few years now. I was excited to read his book; we’ve talked and I knew some of his story. But this… nothing prepares you for reading this. If it was a journey to read (and it was!) I can’t even imagine what it was to actually live. As his friend, reading this had a deep impact on me. Anger at what was done to him, sadness for what he did to himself, yet praise for what God did for him and what I expect God to do through him. Walter is indeed living proof of Psalm 40:2: “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”

For those struggling with identity, with addiction, with loneliness, with depression, you need to read this book. This is not only one man’s testimony of his life, it is a testament to the abundant grace of God that He pours out LIBERALLY to those who earnestly seek Him. If you want answers to life’s questions and solutions to life’s problems, the Bible is the way to get them and if you’re not convinced, read Walter’s story. For any skeptic who thinks “there isn’t a God,” you need to read this book. For anyone who thinks “God doesn’t care about me,” you need to read this book. It will not only change your mind, it can be the doorway that leads to restoration and transformation through a relationship with Jesus Christ. It will take the blinders off your eyes so you can actually SEE truth around you, and once you see truth, as Walter describes in his own journey, you can walk the path of truth to its ultimate and purposeful end: eternal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I so appreciate that Walter not only had the guts to share his story, but that he was obedient when God asked him to write it. I cannot even conceive of how hard it was to write, nevermind live through. If you need more proof of the redeeming and sustaining power of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, this book provides it.
